DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENT:
======================
The origin of the name Falougha is Syriac and means “divide” symbolizing the two winter rivers that divide the village.
The 19th-century French poet, novelist, and statesman Alphonse De Lamartine visited Lebanon and spent some time in Hammana. He described the town and its surrounding valley as “one of the most beautiful prospects ever presented to the human eye to scan in the works of God”.
The hike will take place near the amazing lakes. We will have many reasons to keep our cameras handy, there will be scenes to cherish forever.
HIKING LEVEL. 1 to 3 for easy, 4 to 6 for intermediate, 7 to 9 for strenuous
Level 4 (around 10 KM – 3.5 Hours approx.) is an easy and pleasing trail.
Our beautiful trail will start from the Cedar Forest leading to the most picturesque spot to Lamartine Rock where the famous French poet, Lamartine, used to sit and get inspired.
We continue at easy uphill path to visit the first Lebanese Flag that was raised in 1943. Then we will go to the top of a hill to see a panoramic view to the most picturesque spot where the very known water ponds exist. The stunning mountainous landscape, with extremely vertical slopes, is impressive. The scenery is just great. We continue our hike between the pine forest of Falougha passing by Sohat spring water bottling plant.
After finishing the trail, we will go by bus to Hammana village, its described by the poet Lamartine as being “the work of God”. Its beautiful traditional houses, historic monuments, cobblestone pedestrian streets and mild climate make it an ideal holiday destination. Hammana is a lively village to end the hike.
