DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENT:
======================
This time we are going for a new beautiful hike, to the stunning Mountains at Kfardebian and Baatouta village.
We will experience the fascinating Lebanese wild nature with its colorful trees and herbs, chirping birds, fresh breeze and rushing water.
The name Kfardebian originates from the Semitic language and perhaps descended from the Syriac, which gives it the meaning of “The Village of Deers”. The history of the village goes way back to an era that is still obscure because of the absence of archeological and historical assets.
The ruins of Faqra, the traditional Lebanese houses, the old and new bridges, and the remaining mills in the Valley of the Cross are the best proofs of the importance of the village and its rich historical originality.
Bqaatouta It is home for the Sannine bottled water company. The village is surrounded by the highest peaks of Metn and Keserwan and lies at the sources of the dog river (Nahr el Kalb) separating the two casas. Bqaatouta falls is the hidden gems.
This trail is a mixed with between section 13 of Lebanon Mountain Trail and Baatouta waterfalls Trail.
During the hike, we will pass by green landscape, artificial lakes, streams, springs, forests, waterfalls, old Monasteries, wooden bridges, ruins, Phoenician tombs, Etc, Diversified…? Yes! We will encounter a lot of things in this hike!
HIKING LEVELS: 1 to 3 for easy, 4 to 6 for intermediate, 7 to 9 for strenuous.
Our hike will be divided into 2 levels:
We will hike around 8 Km approx. as level 4, for just 3,30 hours, will start at Faqra Ruins, there the impressive remains of a Roman temple and a citadel built on ancient foundations still dominate the scene, giving a view over the astounding gorge, the trail will lead us to a wonderful wooden bridge and there we can take as many of photos as we desire and after towards an old Monastery (Deir El-Saydet Al-Niyah). The second part of the trail by bus to Assi River where one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Lebanon exist.
Level 5 (13 Km approx. 4:30Hr) Once we reach the Old Monastery, those who wants will continue Uphill and head towards ‘’Shallalat El-Assi”, then downhill until we join the other group. That part of the trail offers many scenic spots and adventure.
