It will be nice to contemplate views at this altitude.The town of Aito has some old ruins\, such as an old tower and a temple. The second part will be on the side of the deep valley of Qadisha which will lead us to Deir Hamatoura. To get to the bus\, we will use the old stairs of the Monastery to get down. This abbey is the “Guardian of the City”. It is built on rocks overlooking great views. The church is the most ancient part\, dating back to the 4th century. \nLEVEL 4 (Approx. 6 Km) From Ayto village to Karm Saddeh\, it will be an easy walk: the first part is downhill\, and the next one is beside the river at Deir Hamatoura. In this hike\, you will have many reasons to keep your cameras handy. From the moment you will start hiking until the moment you stop\, there will be scenes that you want to cherish forever. The second part will begin in the valley by the Company of Electricity in Kousba (hydraulic electric power station). It is corroborated by the Arabic root Hdn meaning “steadiness\, calm and fertility”.\nEhden is a famous summer resort and touristic center\, often called “The Bride of Summer Resorts in the North of Lebanon. \nQadisha\, one of the deepest and most beautiful valleys in Lebanon\, is indeed a world apart. “Qozhaya” is of Syriac origin and means “the 🏺 treasure of Life”. The 💒 Monastery of Qozhaya (Deir Mar Antonios Qozhaya – دير مارانطﻮنيوﺱ ﻗﺰحيا) sits on the opposite flank of the Qadisha from Qannoubin Monastery; it was first built at the beginning of the fourth century. It was several times looted\, set on fire and razed to the ground\, but there still remain vestiges dating back to the seventh century. \nThe Monastery is truly a national center of 🕊 prayer\, pilgrimage and tourism. It comprises a corridor\, meeting room\, museum and chapel\, with a mill and a number of hermitages cut into the rock nearby. The story of the Monastery is the story of the Christians in Lebanon and in the Middle East\, the story of cultural\, economical\, social and political development in the Lebanese society and in the region. \nAfter about 1700 years\, the Monastery continues to be a sign of faith and an expression of behavior.\nIt must be mentioned here that the Monastery of Qozhaya possesses a library containing archives\, scholarly compendia and Syriac manuscripts. The first printing press in the Middle East (1584) was placed in this Monastery which still has the Scepter of St Louis\, the King of France (1226-1270).\nAll the above-mentioned wealth\, whether natural or cultural\, pushed the UNESCO to register 💒 Monastery of St. Anthony Qozhaya on the list of International Patrimony under the number 850. \nHIKING LEVEL. 1 to 3 for easy\, 4 to 6 for intermediate\, 7 to 9 for strenuous.\n🌿🥾 The hike will be divided into three levels:\n\n🥇 LEVEL 2 (Visits) Saydet El Hosen\, El Midan\, Yousef Beik Karam\, Monastery Mar Antonios Qozhaya. \nWe will start our hiking near an old church “Saydet El Hosen” ⛰hill and will 👓 see from the top Ehden and Qozhay valley. Part of our trail will be along with the LMT. \n🥇 LEVEL 3 (around 5 km) will start from Saydet El Hosen. After the visit\, you will take a downhill easy trail between the pines to Al Midan. From there\, you will continue our path of 3 km downhill to the valley\, crossing an old village with wonderful views.\nFrom there you will take the 🚌 bus to visit the historical 💒 “St. Michael’s Church”. There shrine the mortal remains of the parish priest Yousef Abi Maroun Maatouq (1847-1929)\, a Godly priest whose remains are still whole\, knowing no decay until now.\nAfter the visit you will take the bus to join the level 5 at the 💒 Monastery Mar Antonios Qozhaya in the valley. \n🥈 LEVEL 5 (around 13 km) After the visit to the Diman and Youssef Beik Karam tomb\, you will have a long downhill hike for about 300 meters\, cross the beautiful 💧 waterfalls in the River of the Qadisha\, and many of the ruins 🏛 of old houses\, old cave churches\, stone bridges and ⚱️hermitages until we reach the 💒 Monastery of Qozhaya where the 🍞 lunch break will take. \nWhere you meet the other group at the Monastery and continue together the visit. \n🎒 WHAT TO TAKE:\n============== \nHealthy snacks that will boost up your energy such as dried fruits\, lunch\, water\, cap\, sunglasses and sunscreen. Bekaa region.1100 meters above sea level\, 8 km North of Zahle. \nWHEN :\nSunday\, October 04\, 2026 \nENCOUNTER PLACE :\nMar Maroun Church Parking\, Dora @ 7:30 AM \nDriving directions to Mar Maroun https://dalecorazon.com/contact/\nOr Martyrs Square at Al-Nahar Bldg.\, Beirut Downtown @ 7:45 AM \nFEES:\n25 $/person including transport  (comfortable air-conditioned Pullman)\, professional guides (certified tour operator)\, coffee\, 5 minutes warming up\, stretching\, and pictures. \n25 years younger will have a discount of 20%. The word ‘Niha’ means a place of rest\, as it was once the Roman emperor’s summer place in Baalbeck. Niha is known for the 4 citadels dating back to the Roman Empire were constructed between the 1st and 3rd century AD\, with some even further back to the Byzantine and Phoenician eras. The citadels are grand\, which can be compared to those at Baalbeck\, albeit on a smaller scale. \nThe hike will begin from Niha where we will visit the well-preserved lower temple.\nAfter this\, we will divide into two groups: easy and intermediate. \n🌿🥾 HIKING LEVEL. 1 to 3 for easy\, 4 to 6 for intermediate\, 7 to 9 for strenuous/advanced \n🥈 Level 5 (approx. 3:30Hr) will continue to walk a bit uphill until they reach the upper temple El Hosn of Niha\, which is still upright but in very good condition. Stunning panoramic views of the Bekaa valley can be enjoyed from up there. Then the trail becomes a downhill walk all the way to Ferzol. \nOnce in Ferzol\, we will all go to Al-Habis to see ancient ruins and caves dating from the Canaanite\, Phoenician and Roman eras. The ruins are from a prehistoric empire that has been carved into the mountain as Cappadocia in Turkey\, famous for allegedly housing all the gold treasures of that empire! On the other side\, we will see the king’s chair\, wine presses\, and many historical remnants. \n🥈 Level 3 (approx. 2:30Hr) The same trail as level 5\, the difference is; will reach the upper temple El Hosn of Niha by bus. \nWe will have time to rest in the stunning nature of Ferzol before walking back to our bus and continuing back to Tannayel. \nSo our last stop will be at Domaine de Taanayel for a tour around the beautiful lakes and forest.
