Lebanon Wineries

» Chateau Kefraya Chateau Kefraya Lebanon, Vin de Kefraya Château Kefraya's story began in 1950, when Michel de Bustros, founder, Chairman and President, initiated the establishment of a vineyard on a land, sprinkled with rocks, of clay-chalk stony soil at 1100 meters above sea level.

The rise of Château Kefraya began during the Lebanese civil war (1975-1990), with the launching of a first vintage in 1979. Today, Château Kefraya (430 Hectares and 1,800,000 bottles/year) is present in more than 45 countries, after having obtained above 250 medals and trophies and been recognized by the most famous wine connoisseurs among whom Robert Parker who rated the Comte de M 1996 91/100.

The notoriety of Château Kefraya was achieved through a constant qualitative progression, symbolized by the motto ''Semper Ultra'', which means in Latin ''Always Better''. To be able to constantly control the vines' culture, grapes must imperatively be produced either from its own terroir, or from the Kefraya village.

Château Kefraya offers 4 major categories of wines:

« Seduction Wines » (a red: Les Bretèches, a white: Blanc de Blancs and a rosé: Myst),
« Celebration Wines » (the Château Kefraya red, the Château Kefraya Blanc and the Château Kefraya Rosé) with medium aging potential that embody the richness, harmony and originality of wines produced from a blend of various vines.

Then, at the top of the range, come the « Prestige Wines », such as the famous Comte de M (red wine) that is matured in casks and has the backbone to age well for at least 20 years, and Vissi d'Arte (white wine), also matured in oak barrels. Finally, « Charm Wines »: Lacrima d'Oro, a soft, natural sweet white wine, and Nectar de Kefraya, a mistelle wine (grape liquor).
