Balou3 baatarat waterfall hike
Dear hikers,
Our hike will take place on the slopes of Laqlouq and Tannourine mountains, where you will have the opportunity to see one of the most beautiful natural monuments and one of the most beautiful and old villages in Lebanon in one single trip like Ehmej, Hafroun, balaa, el afess (tannine) valley, chatine and tannourine el fawqa.
The Village of Balaa (bordering Laqlouq) is known for its deep natural sink hole, “Balou3 Bal3a”. A 300 meter walk brings you to a dizzying open cavern some 250 meters deep. Three natural bridges – of which the middle one is the most spectacular.
Chatine (1350m) and tannourine el faouka ( 1450m) are located in batroun district and 82 kms away from beirut.
Our hike can be divided into 2 parts:
1st part: 11 kms moderate to advanced: from Ehmej to Balou3 Balaa.
2nd part: 3 kms moderate: from Balou3 Balaa to Chatine village (if time permits)
Our hike will start from ehmej cedars at an altitude of 1200 m passing through the slopes of Hafroun hills & Laklouk village. We will take a path toward the lakes of chatine surrounded by hills and engraved rocks passing by green landscapes, streams, forests, ponds and lakes until we reach balou3 balaa. We will have around 30 mins to visit this natural monument to see the beauty of the waterfall while taking our lunch. From there, we will be divided in 2 groups. People who want stop hiking can enjoy the beauty of the waterfall and then take the bus toward Chatine village and the others will continue the next 3 kms (if time permits) toward wadi el aafes in chatine then a 30 mins uphill to chatine village.
During the hike we will pass by 2 springs (nabaa el sheikh and ain al bared), the walnut river, old houses, landscapes and mountains, baatara gorge, some up hills and downhills as well as we will hike in part of LMT section 10.

1- @ 7:30 am: jal dib near DHL and Banque Libano Francaise facing the Canadian embassy (we can pick our hikers that live on our way)
2- @ 7:15 am: near Al Amine Mosque downtown Beirut.

Required materials: hiking boots, backpack, hat, 3L of water, raincoat, sunglasses, sunscreen, healthy snacks, hiking stick.
Fees: 20 USD (including transportation, guidance, giveaways, but does not include medical insurance)
Entrance fees to Balou3 Baatara gorge per person: 200,000 LBP
