📜 DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENT:

The village of Osbeh is located in a lovely ⛰mountain area with 🌫️verdant scenery. It is famous by its 🦟 Honey Production since the ottoman empire.

🌿🥾 HIKING LEVELS: 1 to 3 for easy, 4 to 6 for intermediate, 7 to 9 for strenuous.

Our hike will be divided into 2 levels:
🥈 Level 2 it’s only visiting the amazing landmarks.
🥇 Level 4 (Approx. 8 km / 3:30 hours)

Our day will begin with a visit to Deir Saidet Mayfouk (1746 AD) to see the oldest Maronite icon in Lebanon. Afterward, we will start the hike, passing by a traditional water source that will allow us to refill our water supply along the trail.

Then we will visit Saint Charbel cave (Roman Fortress) where he used to pray and continue to Mar Saba abandoned church. The amazing scenery that your eyes catch upon reaching these amazing landscapes is really awesome. We will walk an easy path and pass by Deir Mar Geryes, a beautiful place where we can see a TANNOUR made from clay. Views are fantastic from there; Batroun and Jbeil are easily observed. Our lunch will be nearby, and then we will start and head towards the upper part of Osbeh village.

Later we will take an easy downhill trail to the old monastery of our Lady of ILIGE (1120 AD); an ancient church located in Mayfouk -Jbeil, it was the Maronite patriarchal seat for hundreds of years and nowadays it is turn to a national archeological site. It is one of the corners of the holy triangle of Saint Charbel and Sainte Rafka and Saint Hardini. From there the path is downhill and will lead you to Mayfook spring to meet the bus once again. It is a great place to end the hike!

Then, we will visit Saint Charbel Cave (Roman Fortress), where he used to pray, followed by a walk to Mar Saba, an abandoned church. The breathtaking scenery upon reaching these landscapes is truly spectacular. We will follow an easy path, passing by Deir Mar Geryes, a beautiful spot where you can see a clay-made Tannour. The views from there are fantastic, with Batroun and Jbeil clearly visible.

Our lunch will be nearby; after which we will head towards the upper part of Osbeh village. Later, we will take an easy downhill trail to the old Monastery of Our Lady of Elige (1120 AD), an ancient church located in Mayfouk-Jbeil. This site served as the Maronite patriarchal seat for centuries and is now a designated archaeological site. It is one of the corners of the holy triangle of Saint Charbel, Sainte Rafka, and Saint Hardini.
The trail continues downhill, leading us to Mayfouk Spring, where we will meet the bus once again.
From there we will continue by bus to Qattara to visit Deir Mar Challita (1848 AD). It’s a wonderful spot to conclude the hike!
