Hiking in the foosteps of Saint Charbel

Dear hikers,
Let us follow the footsteps of St Charbel taking his journey of grace which he adopted during his life on earth starting from the place where Saint Charbel completed his first year of novitiate until we reach the final destination of the pilgrimage.

From the Monastery of Our Lady of Mayfouq, where Saint Charbel completed his first year of novitiate, our trail ascends towards the Kfarshilli quarter in Mayfouq, through some stunning scenery. We then cross the Qlimus Valley, rich in oak trees, before reaching the village of Lehfed, birthplace of Blessed Estephan Nehme.
From Lehfed, we get to the sprawling village of Mechmech through breathtaking oak and arbutus forests, passing by the Church of Saint Tadros (=Theodoros), the Church of Our Lady of Qarmish, and Phoenician ruins.
In this section, captivating with its pristine nature, pilgrims will find a special space for prayer and contemplation (a silent kilometer) between milestones
The trail also passes through the outskirts of the village of Habil, overlooking from afar the remains of an ancient Patriarchal See, before reaching the village of Mechmech, passing through agricultural lands adjacent to the archaeological sites of Dabshet An-Nwawis and Farshaa (side trails), as well as some picturesque ancient oak trees.
After the amazing hike, we will take our blessings from the shrine of Saint Charbel within the Saint Maroun Monastery.

– 30 kms away from Beirut
– meeting point in jal dib & downtown Beirut
– Plz don’t smoke during the hike
– Jacket and a rain coat is a must
– we can pick up hikers on our way

1- @ 7:30 am: jal dib near DHL and Banque Libano Francaise facing the Canadian embassy (we can pick our hikers that live on our way)
2- @ 7:15 am: near Al Amine Mosque downtown Beirut.
Departure: 7:15 am from Al amine mosque Beirut (plz be on time)

13 kms – level 5 moderate
Max min Elevations: 900 m – 1100 m – 850 m – 1200 m
Total hiking duration: 5 hours
Moving time: 4 hours
Required materials: hiking boots, backpack, hat, 3L of water, raincoat, sunglasses, sunscreen, healthy snacks, hiking stick.

Fees: 20 USD (including transportation, guidance, giveaways, but does not include medical insurance)
