DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENT:

Dear explorers,
Our cultural trip will be towards south Lebanon, the ancient city of Saida.
Saida is mainly a Phoenician city, with many layers of world civilizations passing and having left marks to it. Notably the Romans, Crusaders, and Ottomans.
The tour will start with the crusader sea castle, which itself is built on top of a Phoenician castle. Then we will enter the old city with its labyrinth tiny streets. Will visit first St Peter & St. Paul cave and church where they stayed there. We reach Audi soap museum for a tour and soap exhibition visit. Famous Hammam al jadeed will follow, which is the largest and most significant hammam in Saida. Lunch will be enjoyed in the middle of the old city in a traditional restaurant.
After lunch, we’ll discover khan al Franj built by Emir Fakherdin in the 17th century. And last but not least, Saint Louis crusader castle will be our final stop. With ruins dating back to Phoenician and Roman times, it is most notable for being the land castle of the ancient city.

Following that, we will head towards Maghdouche / Mantara: When Jesus came to Sidon, the Virgin Mary who accompanied him stopped to wait for him near the town of Maghdouche at the top of the hill; she spent the night inside a cave, which was named later Al-Mantara. It is 8 km away from the center of the caza, stands at an altitude of 200 m.
Note our last stop to try the famous Sidonian sweets 😉
Keep on exploring!
