» Chateau Ksara Chateau ksara LebanonThe country's oldest winery celebrated its 150th birthday in 2007. A household name in Lebanon for the second half of the 20th century, the 1975-90 civil war caused the winery's fortunes to dip until the early '90s, when new investors and a new general manager stopped the rot.

Today it produces two million bottles annually - seven reds, three whites and three rosés, as well as Lebanon's bestselling arak (an aniseed-based eau de vie similar to ouzo).

RED WINE

Le Souverain
Made from Cabernet sauvignon 50% and Arinarnoa 50% a very rare grape variety (less than 120 Ha in the whole world), a crossing between Merlot and Petit Verdot. Remarkable bouquet of dark Wild berries, fenugreek and carob, accompanied with a highly complex olfactory range. Excellent with games and red meat.

Prieuré Ksara
A bright intense ruby red wine with an exotic fruity aroma along with spicy and Licorice notes make it a wine to remember. It is base on Cinsault and help up with some Syrah and Cabernet-Sauvignon. It is classic yet supple wine for daily consumption and goes perfectly well with leg of lamb and stews.

Réserve du Couvent
Superbly balanced, this dark ruby wine, from Cabernet-Sauvignon, Syrah and Carignan combines elegance with a lingering delicacy. Cultivated in oaken casks, it can be easily kept for 3 to 5 years and goes perfectly with roasted or grilled red meat and game.

Château Ksara Red
The pre-eminently best keeping wine; the Château is the proud result of a distinguished alloy of Cabernet-Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot, cultivated in oaken casks for 18 months. Endowed with a charming ruby color, it will reveal its harmonious fullness when accompanying game, red meat and dressed meals.

Cabernet-Sauvignon
A fine, ruby wine, generous, full-bodied, well-crafted, classic and of high character. With long keeping, this Cabernet-Sauvignon develops a great quantity in ageing. Matured in oak casks, it accompanies red meat and game, but equally ewe’s cheese. Grapes: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon

Cuvée du Troisième Millénaire
Full bodied and long keeping red wine elaborated from the most noble varieties, issued out of selected grapes from the best and well oriented vineyards. It’s a blend of Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Syrah. It’s aged in French oak casks for 14 months.

Cuvée de Printemps
This bright red wine, with its supple tannin and striking violet aroma is produced from , Gamay and Temprallino. Cold meat, Lebanese mezze and delicatessens will love the company of this wine, provided it is served cool, though not chilled.

WHITE WINE

• Blanc de l'Observatoire This light and fruity wine is produced from Sauvignon, Muscat and Clairette, which are separately vatted. Its dedicated Muscat touch is excellent with vegetables, Lebanese mezze and grilled sea fish, provided it is served young and fresh.

• Château Blanc de Blancs The very noble Sauvignon, Sémillon and Chardonnay constitutes the basis of this elegant and subtle wine. It is vatted for several months in French oak-wood casks before it is bottled. It can be served as an aperitif, as well as with delicate fresh fish or shellfish.

• Chardonnay This wine is issued of 100% Chardonnay harvested in one of our highest vineyard (1400 m altitude)and yielding 28Hl/Ha. Fermented in new oak casks and stirred on lees. Clear, pale yellow with green tints. A fine, polished wine with purity of style.

ROSÉ WINE

Rosé de Ksara
Made from Cinsault, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, this subtle pink wine is highly appreciated for its vividness and its fresh fruity aromas. Served young, it is agreeable to the mouth and goes along ideally with mezze, salads, pizzas, and vegetables as well as with white meat and fish.

Sunset
Refreshing and vivid, this very well-balanced and generous wine, which has already proudly and successfully crossed the Lebanese borders, has a remarkable spicy flavor due to its vinification based on Cabernet-Franc and Syrah. It has a unique, slightly pungent aroma of red berries and is the ideal fresh accompaniment to vegetables, delicatessens and spicy meals.

Gris de Gris
A fresh and intense salmon-pink wine that draws its peculiarity from the Carignan and the Grenache Gris. It should be drunk young and cool in order to preserve all of its qualities, and goes ideally with white meat and entrées. It can also be served as thirst quencher.
